Can you tile directly over redguard?

Can You Tile Directly Onto RedGard? There’s no need to put another layer of product on top of RedGard before you begin tiling. A surface that has been painted with RedGard and allowed to dry is ready for you to apply thinset and install tile. You can install thinset mortar and tile directly onto RedGard.

While there are many drywall sealers that are fine to use, we have found that the best drywall sealer for our projects has been Redgard. RedGard creates a waterproof barrier for drywall.

How many coats of RedGard do you need?

When dry, apply at least one full coat of RedGard® to the primed area. When used as a vapor barrier, apply one full coat (20 to 25 mils wet) where vapor transmission is up to 8 lbs per 1000 sq. ft per day and two full coats (20 to 25 mils wet each coat) where vapor transmission is up to 12 lbs per 1000 sq. ft per day.

Will thinset stick to RedGard?

If you want to tile over RedGard, you can use thinset mortar and tile directly on the shower wall. Mix mortar in small batches and apply it to the shower wall a small area at a time. Use a notch tile trowel to spread mortar whenever you tile over RedGard.

Can you tile over waterproof membrane?
